Shower Oil formula:
Lumorol K- 33.6%
SCI Powder 1.8%
Heat to 70°C and stir until blended

Grape Seed Oil: 28%
SLSA powder: 12.4%
Castor Oil: 12%
Laureth 3: 7%
Macadamia Nut Oil: 2.2%
Blend together all of the above. Cool to 30°C then add in scent.

Basic Blooming Bath Oil Formula
Lumorol K 30-60%
Oil 30-60% (any oil will work; MCT does seem to be the most stabilizing so be sure to include some of that in your blend)
Scent (fragrance and essential oils both work) 1-2%

Foaming Body Butter Bars

Hard butter (Cocoa, Shea, Mango, Kokum) 32.3%

Wax (Candelilla, Rice Bran, Jojoba Esters, Sunflower Wax) 10%
Blend together and melt over low heat. Only heat enough to liquify. Cool to around 110°F or lower to add scents and colors. Pour into molds and allow to harden.

 Lumorol K 5229 is an exciting new ingredient for incorporating more oils into your skincare routine. Oils make great body cleansers and treatments, but they don’t’ foam on their own. You have to mix them with caustic soda or potassium hydroxide, but then you make soap, no longer an oil treatment. Welcome in Lumorol K; a water-free surfactant blend of anionic and ionic cleansers that will make your oil base foam and cleanse, and still stay hydrating like an oil.

Lumorol K 5229 is made of a blend of RSPO palm based surfactant (MIPA-Laureth Sulfate) and Laureth-4 (coconut derived), with a small amount of non-petroleum based propylene glycol. The palm used is RSPO certified. Free of diethanolamide.

You can blend Lumorol K and any oil to create a foaming body oil wash/bathing oil/blooming bath oil. The base will stay clear (some essential oils and fragrances will affect this), then will turn a milky white when emulsified with the shower water.  It will give a high foaming performance even when used in smaller amounts.

Lumorol K 5229 is more stable when combined with low polarity oils. MCT Fractionated Coconut Oil seems to be the best option as the primary oil, then you can include others in small amounts. Oils like Avocado, Coconut, Olive, High Oleic Sunflower, Sesame and Jojoba are good options. Remember that your customers will be washing this off, so the percentage of higher end oils should be used for texture enhancement only so that your price point stays optimal.

Lumorol K can get cloudy and may look like it has a slight sediment if it gets cool. Simply warm to 30°C/86°F to clear it out.

Lumorol K makes a great addition bath melts and bath bombs, body scrubs, bathing oils, foaming body scrubs, foaming oil facial cleansers! Imagine a blend of MCT, Grape Seed Oil, PNW Salts or Sugar Granules, some colorful Jojoba Beads and Lumorol K 5229. Foamy, scrubby goodness.

You can incorporate a small amount of Lumorol K into your shampoo bars, too. It helps in formulas with higher oil content, so that the finished product will still cleanse and not be so heavy, but isn’t made entire of surfactants.

You cannot use water based surfactants with Lumorol K 5229, so ingredients like Coco Betaine or Decyl Glucoside won’t work. You can use SCI powder, SCI needles, SLSA powder or SCS noodles.

Short Term Storage: Air tight container. Dark location. Cool room temperature.

Long Term Storage: Removing air from storage container will delay oxidation and rancidity (may need to place in a smaller container). Refrigeration can extend shelf life.
