AHA (Alpha Hydroxy) Fruit Enzyme Blend is a natural blend of AHA fruit enzymes targeted to help improve hydration and boost natural collagen production while helping to reduce fine lines and wrinkles.
Alpha Hydroxy Acids have long been a staple in skincare formulas. Originally derived from milk (lactic acids) and lemon juice (citric acids), many other natural sources of AHA have been discovered and tested in skincare formulas. Regular use of products containing AHA Fruit Enzyme Blend can help make the skin brighter by exfoliating the top layer of dead skin, and it helps rejuvenate aging skin by boosting natural cellular repair and collagen production.
The use of AHA’s is remarkable on individuals experiencing acne and on those with sun damaged, aging skin. Our AHA Fruit Acid Blend is 100% fruit derived, which means it is more gentle that chemical exfoliants. AHA Fruit Acid Blend can be used daily when incorporated into another base, such as a cream, lotion, cleanser, or facial serum. Try blend our Aloe Gel Base, AHA Fruit Enzyme Blend at 10%, Vegetable Glycerin, Olive Oil Squalane, and Organic Cold Pressed Broccoli Seed Oil. This will create a fabulous facial serum with an active level of AHA. Since the AHA Fruit Enzyme Blend does contain water you will need to challenge test your finished product to see if you need to add any preservative.
AHA Fruit Enzyme Blend is made up of Bilberry (lactic acid), Sugar Cane (glycolic acid), Orange and Lemon (citric acids), and Sugar Maple (malic and tartaric acids). Glycolic acid has the smallest molecular structure, which means it is primed to reach deeper into the layers of the skin. Glycolic acid separates cornecyte attachments and breaks up clumping cells. This encourages new cellular growth. When new cells develop that pushes older, aging cells to the surface. When you exfoliate, both with physical and chemical exfoliants, the older, aging cells are removed bringing fresher, younger looking skin to the surface. This is a daily process, so exfoliating on routine basis is key.
Lactic acid is a strong moisturizing agent when used in skincare formulas. Lactic acid also helps to heal skin that is thin, shiny, with exposed blood vessels.
Citric Acid is beneficial for the ATP production and works as an intermediary for the Krebs cycle. This means using products with natural citric acid help to boost natural fibrous protein, making the skin appear thicker and firmer.
Malic and Tartaric acid help to even skin tone, increase elasticity, and create a clearer complexion. We do also carry pure Tartaric Acid that can be used on its own in formulas or in conjunction with AHA Fruit Enzyme Blend.
Now, don’t think that AHA Fruit Enzyme Blend is only for skincare. This makes an excellent hair care ingredient and delivers the same benefits to the scalp and hair as it does to the skin. Incorporating AHA Fruit Enzyme Blend into your shampoo and conditioner products can help increase cleansing, smoothing, dry and wet combability, decreases frizz, increases shine and hydration.
An in-vivo half head study was conducted to determine the comparison of a control shampoo vs. 2.0% AHA Fruit Enzyme Blend in the control shampoo. Additionally, a comparison between the control conditioner and 2.0% AHA Fruit Enzyme Blend in the control conditioner were reported. Each volunteer’s hair was photographed prior to the treatment and again after the shampoo and conditioner had been applied and the hair was styled. The images of the half head study were used in conjunction with a sensory assessment subjectively rating the parameters – cleansing, smoothing, dry and wet combability, anti-frizz, overall feel, shine and hydration. This assessment was conducted both before and after treatment. Based on the results obtained, AHA Fruit Enzyme Blend is capable of enhancing smoothing, wet and dry combability, anti-frizz, overall feel, shine and hydration making it ideal for all hair types.
You can incorporate AHA Fruit Enzyme Blend into your body washes and facial cleansers. Incorporating natural exfoliation into daily cleansing of both face and body helps to boost circulation, removes top layers of dead skin, and increases overall moisture.
Five volunteers, male and female, between the ages of 20 and 45 and who were known to be free of any skin pathologies participated in this study. Dermal Dye Max™ was applied to four identified test patches on the volar forearm. The dye was left to develop for 24 hours prior to baseline readings. A fifth skin patch was identified as the skin baseline control and no dye nor treatment were applied to this site. Post dye development and prior to the initial application, baseline DemaLab pigmentation index readings were taken for all five identified sites.
Approximately 0.2 g of each lotion treatment, 5% glycolic acid positive control, 5% AHA Fruit Enzyme Blend and the base formula were applied to three 2cm x 2cm respective locations on the volar forearm. The fourth test site was left untreated as a dye baseline test site. Readings were taken every 24 hours until the active test site returned to baseline. After each daily reading, treatment of each respective test site was performed following the same parameters listed above.
Fruit Enzyme Blend was able to return the test site to baseline pigmentation readings in three days. The results indicate that Fruit Enzyme Blend is capable of increasing cellular renewal when compared to the untreated skin dye control site. Cellular renewal is beneficial for visibly improving skin tone and texture as well as aiding in the skin’s function as a protective barrier from harmful chemical and environmental exposure that can lead to premature aging.
Fruit Enzyme Blend had the greatest percent change reduction back to baseline when compared to all other test controls. Fruit Enzyme Blend outperformed the glycolic acid positive control in the induction of cellular renewal and was able to return skin to the untreated baseline pigmentation readings. Fruit Enzyme Blend induced a 108.41% change in pigmentation over the course of 4 days compared to the glycolic acid positive control which only induced a 107.48% change in pigmentation. It can therefore be concluded that at normal use concentrations, Fruit Enzyme Blend contributes to cellular renewal, indicating a healthier, more vibrant skin tone and helping to reverse the signs of aging.
AHA Fruit Enzyme Blend can also be incorporated into your scrubs to further enhance the exfoliation results. That means you can add this to the Foaming Bath Whip base, along with physical exfoliants like Jojoba Beads, Jojoba Seed Powder, Hibiscus Fibers, to make a plant based body and face scrub. Or you could do an AHA Body and Foot Scrub using Glycerin, Shea Butter, Fractionated Coconut Oil, PNW Sea Salt and Sugar as the physical scrubs, then AHA Fruit Enzyme Blend to boost the scrubbing results.
