SLSA is your go-to dry surfactant for bath bombs, shampoo bars, bath melts, cleansing creams, and foaming bath salts.
SLSA (Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate) is a primary/secondary surfactant derived from coconut and palm oils. Unlike traditional SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulfate), which can be harsh and irritating, SLSA is a much milder, safer, and gentler alternative. It is also eco-friendly, biodegradable, and doesn’t contribute to water pollution, making it an excellent choice for environmentally-conscious businesses.
We offer SLSA in three different consistencies:
SLSA Powder Fine– this is the small grind; similar to a powder but not as fine as something like corn starch. Small but not powder
SLSA Powder Coarse– this grain size is slightly larger with less dust particles. SLSA coarse is excellent for bath bombs, shower steamers, and products where you don’t need it to be a super fine pressed product. SLSA coarse active level is 65-72% whereas the fine is 64-82%. The fine has more “soap” in it.
SLSA Flake– this is the ideal consistency if you are making liquid products as the flakes dissolve easier in water and create a smoother mixture with less clumping. Flakes are your ideal product for bubble baths, shower gels, shampoos, and body washes, or free-flowing bath soaks where you don’t press it into shapes but rather sell it in jars or bags.
Bath bombs- try blending SLSA (fine or coarse), sodium bicarbonate, citric acid, corn starch and your favorite essential oil blends. You can add a little of one of our melt-and-pour soap bases to help keep their form and to increase bubbles.
Foaming Bath Salts- try blending Epson salt, sodium bicarbonate, citric acid and SLSA to create a detoxifying foaming bath salt. Add a little menthol to make a foaming foot soak.
Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate is a natural foaming agent derived coconut or MB palm. SLSA works as an excellent foaming agent that is more gentle on the skin and more widely accepted than suflates or betaines. Our specific version of SLSA is powder form (both coarse and fine), which means it is fine enough to mix with bath salts or bath bombs.
SLSA is an effective cleansing agent that doesn’t strip skin or hair of their natural oils. SLSA also creates luxurious, abundant lather, that is long-lasting.
SLSA can be toxic if taken orally. For topical use only. Use normal safety precautions when adding to formulas (safety goggles, mask, gloves). Once blended into finished product safety precautions are not necessary.
Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate (SLSA) powder coarse is sold in 1-pound biodegradable bags, 5-pound biodegradable bags, 25-pound bags, 50-pound boxes, and 200-pound drums. For orders over 750-pounds please email us directly.
Storage: Store in tightly sealed containers. SLSA does react to moisture so if left in an open container it can gather moisture and activate.
