Magnesium Sulfate, otherwise known as Epsom salt, is a key component in detoxing and helping to improve our skin. When we are born we have full levels of minerals such as magnesium. As we age and as we fill our bodies with pollutants through everything from the water we drink to the air we breathe, those essential minerals become depleted. Our daily self-care routines are excellent ways to help replenish those minerals and help improve our skin.
Epsom salts can be incorporated both through regular baths and through daily body scrubs. Try a bath soak with a blend of pink Himalayan sea salts, Dead Sea Salts, and Epsom salts. This will create a great blend both esthetically and mineral-wise. Add in some great essential oils like peppermint and rosemary, tea tree and eucalyptus, or spearmint and lavender. Your body will get all the benefits from soaking and from the aromatherapy in the essential oils.
Balanced magnesium levels help in the following ways:
depression
anxiety
PMS
hormone imbalance
thyroid function
eczema
psoriasis
acne
muscle cramps and spasms
sleep disorders
nerve function
cell detoxification
Epsom salt can also be added to soap bars as a gentle exfoliant and to help increase detox, or to your favorite body scrub blend. Try mixing a blend of magnesium salt and fine grind pink Himalayan sea salt to a base of organic coconut oil, organic shea butter, organic cocoa butter, and some tropical oils like pomegranate seed oil, sea buckthorn, and rosehip seed oil to create a moisturizing, healing and balancing body scrub.
As a note, Epsom Salt is a brand name, not an ingredient name. Magnesium sulfate is what Epsom Salt is made of.
