Kaolin clay is a soft, extremely gentle, white, fine powder clay that can be used in any skincare product as a natural detoxifier. You can put kaolin clay in soap bars, face masks, body wraps, foot treatments, hair masks, acne spot treatments, or body scrubs. It is light tan/gray in color and will add that color to any product you add it to. Always start with a small test batch to see how your end product will look and feel.
Kaolin Clay is considered to be one of the gentlest clays so when using it in an application such as a mask it will not dry out the skin like other clays. Kaolin has a high amount of silica.
Kaolin clay makes for an excellent, natural, gentle skin exfoliant so when you make your masks include instructions to gently remove with a washcloth or facial brush to deep clean into the pores.
Kaolin clay is great for skin because it gently removes oil from the top layer of the skin. It is not as strong as bentonite but blending the two together makes for an effective yet gentle oil removing face mask. For an acne treatment, try blending kaolin, bentonite, titanium dioxide, hazelnut oil, lavender essential oil and a small amount of tea tree essential oil. Apply to infected areas and allow to sit for 30 minutes or longer to help pull spots to the surface.
Another kaolin clay benefit is the ability to soothe irritated, red, inflamed skin. Since kaolin helps to pull out impurities, you can use it in a poultice or wound treatment, unlike harsher clays like bentonite. Try blending kaolin, organic tamanu oil, organic coconut oil and organic lavender essential oil to create a soothing topical for wounds.
Kaolin clay, due to both its ability to pull excess sebum from your skin and the natural exfoliation properties, makes for an excellent addition to a hair and scalp cleansing routine. Try mixing kaolin clay, apple cider vinegar, argan oil and tea tree essential oil and using 1-3 times per week as a hair mask and scalp cleansing treatment.
Kaolin Clay is sold in bulk 1-pound, 5-pound, 25-pound and 55-pound sizes. Any orders larger than 250-pounds please email us for pricing.
