Isopropyl Palmitate is a fatty acid of isopropyl alcohol and palmitic acid. Ideal for use in eye care, face care and skincare products where immense moisture is desired. Our version is sourced using RSPO palm oil.
Isopropyl Palmitate is a key ingredient in many skincare formulas. It is ideal for use in eye creams and gels where you need high levels of moisture without the heavy feeling of some emollients. Isopropyl Palmitate works by locking in moisture, leaving the skin feel soft and smooth.
Isopropyl Palmitate also works to prevent static and helps to thicken formulas. Incorporating isopropyl palmitate with other emulsifiers such as Laurel Wax and Jojoba Esters can create a rich, luxurious feeling cream without the heaviness or tacky feeling when using beeswax.
Incorporating isopropyl palmitate into skincare formulas such as face creams and eye creams can help reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles. This is because of the intense moisture delivered to the skin, helping it heal and helping to make it smoother.
Isopropyl Palmitate is also readily absorbed when smoothed into the skin. This makes for a lotion, serum or cream that is easily spread without having to use large amounts of thickeners. This same smoothness makes it an effective ingredient in hair care products. When used in shampoos, conditioners and hair masks, Isopropyl Palmitate helps to smooth hair follicles, and to reduce static and frizz.
Isopropyl palmitate on its own can be comedogenic. It is a very thick product. However, when used in smaller amounts (1-2%) it is ideal for use in facial care products, especially ones targeting dry skin, aging skin, eczema, or psoriasis. Using it in smaller quantities allows for the great skin-feel without clogging pores.
May solidify when cold. Simply warm in a warm-water bath.
