Patchouli is either a smell you love, or a smell you don’t really care for. There seems to be little to no gray area when it comes to this smell. The great thing about patchouli, though, is that you can add it into a blend in a small amount and boost the warmth and no one will ever know that patchouli is in there! I will share that my favorite blend is patchouli with a little mint (spearmint, peppermint or cornmint all work great). I call this the fresh Sasquach and I love it!
Patchouli essential oil is spicy, musky, sweet scent. Patchouli essential oil can be used in everything from household cleaners to body wash, soap bars, potpourri, diffuser blends, body lotions, deodorants, dental care products…you name it. My car spray of choice is our Peppermint Hydrosol with a little patchouli essential oil and cornmint essential oil.
Patchouli is an excellent essential oil to help relieve feelings of sadness and depression. Inhaling patchouli essential oil through a diffuser blend can help to release positive hormones like serotonin and dopamine and relieve feelings of anxiety. Try creating a diffuser blend with patchouli and lavender to boost serotonin levels and create a sense of calm.
Patchouli oil was tested and shown to completely inhibit the growth of certain bacteria. This means patchouli essential oil will make a great addition to anti-acne and body cleansing products. Add a little patchouli to your acne serum or acne face wash.
Patchouli essential oil can also be used as an astringent and to help heal wounds and scars. This is accomplished both by increasing blood circulation and by tightening the pores and balancing the oil production.
Patchouli essential oil has a great scent profile for natural deodorants. You can blend patchouli oil with other oils like lavender or sweet orange to create a spicy blend that isn’t quite as full as just pure patchouli.
Patchouli essential oil also makes a great insecticide. Add it to a body spray, bug repellent gel, or lotion to help keep insects at bay.
Essential oils are sold in 1-ounce amber glass bottles, 4-ounce amber glass bottles, 8-ounce amber glass bottles, 16-ounce amber glass bottles, 5-pound aluminum bottles, 10-pound BPA-free jerricans, and 25-pound sizes. 25 pound sizes may have a later ship date depending on stock on hand. For 100-pound sizes or larger, please email is at orders@shayandcompany.com.
Do not apply directly to skin. Most essential oils are not designed to be applied directly, rather they are designed to be mixed with a carrier oil such as our organic sunflower or organic jojoba oils. Always perform a small patch test when applying to skin.
Do not take internally unless you are licensed to apply them as such.
