Fir needle essential oil is steam extracted from the needles of either the balsam firm or the silver fir. Both species have the same plant benefits.
Fir needle essential oil is a very strong antibacterial. A study done in 2006 showed that fir is effective in fighting staphylococcus bacteria. Consider adding fir needle essential oil to your naturally antibacterial body wash (using our shower gel base or from your own soap base using any one of our natural fixed oils), to your hand made soap bars (from our melt-and-pour soap base), or to an essential oil blend meant to be added to laundry and spray cleansers.
The same antibacterial component makes fir essential oil an excellent additive for a wound or skin salve or ointment. Blend with our cedarwood essential oil and maybe a little vanilla or lavender to create a gentle, effective salve or skin oil.
Add a little fir needle essential oil to a diffuser blend to help decrease stress and re-energize the body and mind. You can also add it to body lotion or natural deodorant base to both combat bacterial growth and to create a clean scent.
Essential oils are sold in 1-ounce amber glass bottles, 4-ounce amber glass bottles, 8-ounce amber glass bottles, 16-ounce amber glass bottles, 5-pound, 10-pound, and 25-pound sizes. 25 pound sizes may have a later ship date depending on stock on hand. For 100-pound sizes or larger, please email is at orders@shayandcompany.com.
Do not apply fir oil directly to skin. Most essential oils are not designed to be applied directly, rather they are designed to be mixed with a carrier oil such as our organic sunflower or organic jojoba oils. Always perform a small patch test when applying to skin.
Do not take internally unless you are licensed to apply them as such.
