Cetyl Esters are naturally derived ester made of fatty acids and saturated fatty alcohols. They work as a thickener that is hard when cool and soften when applied to skin. This helps to create a softening, soothing lotion/cream with excellent skin-feel and a creamy texture.
Cetyl Esters can be used in skincare and hair care applications, both to increase viscosity and as an emollient. The fatty acids help to enhance moisture retention on the skin, and work to sooth and hydrate dry skin and hair.
Stabilizer- natural emulsifier, stabilizing oil and water emulsions
Thickener- can be used to increase viscosity
Skin Conditioner- increases skin hydration
Emollient- creates a smooth, soft feel in lotions and creams
Why Cetyl Esters?
Cetyl Esters do more than just increase viscosity- they also hydrate and help to enhance healing in skin. Since cetyl esters are made of fatty acids they contribute those healing affects and increased glide and skin-feel to products. This makes it a great alternative to beeswax.
Cetyl Alcohol can be used in products like deodorants and facial sticks to create a firm texture, but also the silky, softening feel on the skin. Similar to what adding tapioca starch can do in body butters. The finished product will not be greasy or tacky on the skin.
Cetyl Esters are generally not enough to be used on their own so I suggest blending them with one of our other functional waxes to fully emulsify.

Allergen Certification – Commission Regulation (EU) 2023/1545 of 26 July 2023 amending Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009 of the European Parliament and of the Council as regards labelling of fragrance allergens in cosmetic products.
This is to certify that the above-named product (and/or its components) is not a fragrance as defined in “Commission Regulation (EU) No. 2023/1545 as of July 26, 2023.” Therefore, the product has neither been tested for, nor is it considered a potential source of the 82 Fragrance Allergens cited in “Annex III” of the regulation.
Allergen (Food) Certification – This is to certify that the above-named product (and/or its components) is free from and does not encounter known food allergens.
Animal Free Certification – This is to certify that the above-named product (and/or its components) is 100% Animal Free. Neither the raw materials used, nor any processing materials are of animal origin. No animal derived, sourced or byproduct materials were used in the production process for this product.
BSE Certification – This is to certify that the above-named product (and/or its components) does not contain any elements or materials from bovine or bovine brain tissue, nerve tissue, internal organs, placenta or blood products (including extracts). This product is manufactured in accordance with processing conditions required by European regulation and neither source nor processing materials include bovine or bovine brain tissue, nerve tissue, internal organs and placenta or blood products (including extracts).
Non-Animal Testing Certification – This is to certify that neither the above-named product (nor its components) developed or manufactured by Shay and Company have been tested on animals for cosmetic purposes.
This declaration will also confirm that, in accordance with Directive 2003/15/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 February 2003, amending Council Directive 76/768/EEC, Shay and Company does not knowingly use products that have been tested on animals.
In addition, to the best of our knowledge, no products sold, manufactured, or marketed by Shay and Company have been tested on animals in other industries.
Vegan Certification – This is to certify that the above-named product (and/or its components) is 100% vegan. Neither the raw materials used, nor any processing materials are of animal origin. No animal derived, sourced or byproduct material is used in the production process for this product.

Formaldehyde Free Certification – This is to certify that the above-named product (and/or its components) does not contain formaldehyde or formaldehyde donors.
Gluten Free Certification – This is to certify that the above-named product (and/or its components) is Gluten Free.
IFRA / Fragrance Free Certification – This is to certify that the above-named product (and/or its components) is not a fragrance and does not fall under the IFRA standards for the globally accepted and recognized risk management system for the safe use of fragrance ingredients.
Impurity Free Certification – This is to certify that the above-named product (and/or its components) does not contain any impurities such as residual solvents, pesticides, phthalates, dioxanes, glycol ethers, phenols, nonylphenols and alkylphenols.
Nano Free Certification – This is to certify that the above-named product (and/or its components) does not contain Nano Particles.
Non-GMO Certification – This is to certify that the above-named product (and/or its components) is not manufactured using cell fusion and recombinant DNA technology (including gene deletion, gene doubling, introducing a foreign gene, and changing the positions of genes when achieved by recombinant DNA technology). Such methods do not include the use of traditional breeding, conjugation, fermentation, hybridization, in-vitro fertilization, or tissue culture. This product was manufactured/produced neither ‘from’ nor ‘by’ GMOs as those terms used in Articles 2 and 9 of Council Regulation (EC) No 834/2007.
Perfluoroalkyl and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) Free Certification – This is to certify that this product does not contain any PFAS, nor are any PFAS added in the manufacturing of this product.
Petrochemical Free Certification – This is to certify that the above-named product (and/or its components) does not contain, not is it derived from, Petrochemical materials.
Phthalate Free Certification – This is to certify that the above-named product (and/or its components) does not contain Phthalates.
Preservative Free Certification – This is to certify that the above-named product (and/or its components) does not contain preservatives in any form. Specifically, it does not contain Parabens, Phenoxyethanol, Formaldehyde or Formaldehyde Donors, or any other preservation system.
Synthetic Polymer Microparticles – This is to certify that the above-named product (and/or its components) is completely (100%) free of synthetic polymer microparticles as defined in “Regulation (EU) 2023/2053 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 13 September 2023”. Therefore, the amendments to Annex XVII to Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 defining Synthetic Polymer Microparticles, including Articles 14 and 15 of this regulation, are inapplicable to this product.

Short Term Storage: Air tight container. Dark location. Cool room temperature.
Long Term Storage: Removing air from storage container will delay oxidation and rancidity (may need to place in a smaller container). Refrigeration can extend shelf life.

Shelf Life Once Used in Manufacturing: One year from manufacturing date.
