Brassica Campestris/Aleurites Fordi Oil Copolymer (BCAF copolymer) is a natural, plant based lubricant ideal for use in hair care products, sun protection products, and oil/water emulsified products. Using Brassica Campestris/Aleurites Fordi Oil Copolymer creates excellent protection on the hair and skin from water, and increase shine and gloss in products. BCAF is a plant-based alternative to petroleum based polymers.
Brassica Campestris/Aleurites Fordi Oil Copolymer is made from rapeseed oil and Chinese tung oil. Tung oil is a resin, with excellent moisture barrier properties. This is what gives this product the ability to help products stay in high water environments. If you’re creating a sunscreen and want to increase the time it will stay on in the water, this is the ideal emulsifier for that application.
Brassica Campestris/Aleurites Fordi Oil Copolymer is also an excellent ingredient to increase shine and moisture on hair. Including this in conditioners and hair treatment oils will enhance the shine and help protect hair from the use of hot tools.
Fatty acid profile consists of erucic, linoleic, oleic and eleostearic acids. This product is a blend of a 40% natural high molecular weight copolymer, and 60% blend of rapeseed and tung oil, with 1% natural tocopherol as the stabilizer.
How to use Brassica Campestris/Aleurites Fordi Oil Copolymer in your products?
BCAF is a very easy ingredient to use in your formulations. You will add it after the emulsification process for creams and o/w emulsions. Simply add into the already emulsified product and blend well. This will create a smooth, protective layer of skin hydration in the formula.
In shampoos and conditioners you will add BCAF in the final phase. It is a very easy ingredient to blend in at the end, ensuring complete emulsification of your product.
Brassica Campestris/Aleurites Fordi Oil Copolymer easily blends with other oils, emulsifiers, active ingredients (Quaternized lemon shine, hydrolyzed rice protein, dl-panthenol), peptides, essential oils, butters.

The primary benefit of BCAF is the moisture protection barrier. This allows products like sunscreens to stay on longer when in the water and products like lip gloss to stay on longer. The smooth, thin protective barrier in products made with BCAF have great skin-feel and high emollient properties.
In hair care products, this same moisture barrier helps make hair shinier and helps to lock in moisture. This makes it ideal for products targeting dry, frizzy, damaged hair. Incorporate this into a leave-in conditioner or hair treatment oil. Using BCAF also makes hair smoother and more manageable.
