BDHA Benzyl Alcohol and Dehydroacetic Acid is a pro-spectrum antimicrobial preservative system that is easy to use in any water based product, and any oil/water emulsion with final pH of 5.5-6.5. BDHA is approved for Cosmos and Ecocert products, along with natural, clean and organic formulas.
BDHA can be used at small percentages and will not affect final consistency or clarity of product.

When do I add BDHA Benzyl Alcohol & Dehydroacetic Acid Preservative to my formula?
BDHA should be included in the water phase of your product, once product has been removed from heat source. The lower the temperature of the water and oils when blending, the more effective the preservation system.
In water based formulations and surfactant based gels, you can add at room temperature just by stirring in. You can slightly warm to 80°C/176°F to accelerate dissolution.
In emulsified products you can add into the water or you can add in after blending oil/water ingredients. Allow to cool after adding.
