Allantoin is a white, free flowing powder used in skincare formulations for its soothing properties. Allantoin works as a hydration booster, breaking down the outer layers of the skin, decreasing the thickness and allowing increased hydration and boosted cell turnover for younger looking, healthier skin.

Comfrey is commonly used as a natural source of allantoin; Allantoin USP powder is a bio-identical, syntehtic product and can be combined with comfrey in your products to boost the overall effectiveness of your formulation. Allantoin has a recommended usage level of 0.1-2% because it is highly effective even at small percentages.

Allantoin is excellent for use in hair care products! Including allantoin helps to increase elasticity and smoothness, moisturizes hair and scalp, helps give hair a more glossy effect, and soothes and conditions the skin!

Allantoin is approved by the FDA for usage in skincare formulations up to 2%. This is considered an over the counter ingredient so you do not have to list it separately on your ingredient labels.

Allantoin USP powder is water soluble and should be incorporated into the water phase of your products. You can incorporate allantoin into lotions, creams, serums, masks, toothpaste, shampoos, lip treatments, anti-acne formulas, and more. Add at 120°F or lower to avoid crystallization.

Allantoin is ideal for all skin types as it is considered an anti-inflammatory and is extremely soothing. This makes it an ideal ingredient to use in skin creams and salves targeted for dry skin, sunburns, eczema, psoriasis, or wounds.

Allantoin, due to its effectiveness at removing aging skin cells, is an ideal ingredient to use in products targeting hyperpigmentation and/or aging skin (think wrinkles!). Allantoin helps promote cell turnover, leaving healthier, younger cells at the surface.
