Lemon essential oil is probably one of the most recognized smells. Bright, fragrant, citrus, lemon essential oil makes a great addition to everything from your household cleaners to body wash, scrub, and face products.
In 2017 a study was done to show the effectiveness of lemon essential oil again bacteria growing in ground beef. The study showed that topical application of lemon essential oil was effective at inhibiting the growth of bacteria in the meat. This means all those lemon-based cleansers have a boosted anti-bacterial component when they incorporate lemon essential oils. Keep in mind that synthetic lemon fragrance will not work the same.
