New Product Alert- Cetyl Stearyl Alcohol Beads

We are proud to offer RSPO Cetyl Stearyl (aka Cetearyl) Alcohol beads. With its wide range of benefits and applications, cetyl stearyl alcohol is a must-have ingredient for various industries, including cosmetics, personal care, pharmaceuticals, and more.

When you use cetyl  stearyl alcohol in your skincare formulas, like body lotions or body butters, it works as an emulsifier, helping to keep your oils and water blended, and as a moisturizer booting the emolliency of your finished product.

What is Cetyl Stearyl (aka Cetearyl) Alcohol?

Cetyl stearyl alcohol, also known as cetearyl alcohol, is a mixture of cetyl alcohol and stearyl alcohol. Cetyl Stearyl Alochol is a fatty alcohol derived from natural sources like palm oil or coconut oil. It is a waxy substance that appears as a white solid at room temperature. Despite its name, cetyl stearyl alcohol is not drying to the skin like typical alcohols. Instead, it boasts excellent emollient and conditioning properties.

Cetyl Alcohol is a single compound, consisting mostly of C16 Palmitic Fatty Acid. Palmitic Acid has high moisturizing properties when applied to the skin by helping to lock in moisture. Fatty Acids are critical when it comes to skincare products, both for moisture factors and for helping to create healthy skin.

The difference between Cetyl Alcohol and Ceteryl Alcohol is that Cetyl is a single compound whereas Ceteryl is a blend of cetyl and C18 Stearyl compounds. Ceteryl Alcohol is traditionally used as a stabilizer, foam booster for foaming washes/gels, and as an opacifier.

Cetyl Stearyl alcohol is soluble in oils or alcohol, not in water. Our Cetyl Stearyl Alcohol is made from non-GMO, Halal and Kosher certified palm oil. There are no residual solvents or impurities present after the manufacturing process.

This Cetyl  Stearyl Alcohol is free from Dioxane, Ethanolamine, Ethyl Alcohol, Formaldehyde, Glycols, Irradiation, Microplastics, Mineral Oils, Nanomaterials, Parabens, Paraffins, PEG, Petroleum by-products, Phthalates, Phosphates, Silicones, Sulfates and Steroids. It is our goal to supply the highest quality ingredients possible.

Benefits of cetyl stearyl alcohol versus just cetyl alcohol:

  1. Cetyl stearyl alcohol combines the emulsifying properties of both cetyl alcohol and stearyl alcohol. This makes it more effective at creating stable and uniform emulsions when compared to cetyl alcohol alone. It enables better blending of oil and water-based ingredients, resulting in smoother and more consistent formulations.
  2. Cetyl stearyl alcohol provides superior thickening capabilities compared to cetyl alcohol alone. It enhances the texture of products, giving them a rich and creamy consistency. This is particularly beneficial for creams, lotions, and other cosmetic formulations that require a luxurious feel and better spreadability.
  3. By combining the stability-enhancing properties of cetyl alcohol and stearyl alcohol, cetyl stearyl alcohol offers improved stability to formulations. It helps prevent phase separation, settling, and degradation, thus extending the shelf life of your products.
  4. Cetyl alcohol and stearyl alcohol have slightly different characteristics. Cetyl alcohol has excellent emollient properties and provides a soft, smooth feel, while stearyl alcohol contributes to viscosity and stability. By blending these two alcohols in cetyl stearyl alcohol, you can achieve a balance between their properties, resulting in a more versatile ingredient.
  5. Cetyl stearyl alcohol’s compatibility with a wide range of ingredients, including oils and organic solvents, makes it highly versatile. It can be easily incorporated into various formulations without compatibility issues. This flexibility allows for greater creativity and formulation possibilities.

Cetyl alcohol and cetyl stearyl alcohol are both soluble in various oils and most organic solvents, allowing for easy integration into different formulations. Its compatibility makes it a versatile ingredient suitable for a wide range of applications.
