Lavender essential oil…what can we say? It is lavender and just about everyone knows about it. We here at Shay are proud to carry two versions of lavender essential oil, both lavender 40/42 and organic Buena vista lavender.
Lavender 40/42 indicates that it is a blend of 40% linalool and 42% linalyl acetate. This is a standardized oil, so every time you purchase it, it will have the same scent. Lavender 40/42 essential oil has a very distinct smell and will not smell as sweet or flowery as the traditional lavender synthetic fragrances. Please note that unless the container specifies essential oil it may be a fragrance. Always check your labels!
100% pure lavender oil can be added to just about anything- bath soaps, lotion, body wash, face lotion, face serums, body oils, laundry soap, household cleaners, baked goods, coffee creamer, you name it.
The most well-known attribute of lavender essential oil is its calming effect. You can create a diffuser blend of just pure lavender essential oil, or you can try blending it with other essential oils like lime, rose or vanilla to bring about other nuances of the oil.
The lavender plant produces a dark purple flower. This is where the lavender essential oil is extracted. The darker the color in the plant, the more anti-oxidants it has. Lavender essential oil is a strong anti-oxidant, attacking free radicals when applied topically and taken internally.
Lavender essential oil was studied back in 2013 to test the benefits it has on scopolamine-induced dementia. The study showed a significant increase in antioxidant enzymes.
Lavender essential oil is also known to help improve mood and decrease stress levels. A 2013 study showed that regular use of lavender essential oil helps reduce stress and anxiety, improve sleep and reduce depression. You can use lavender essential oil to create a diffuser essential oil blend for customers to use at night, or add it to a hand cream to help reduce stress.
Lavender essential oil was studied in 2013 to test its results on wounds and bacteria. It showed that a blend of lavender, cinnamon and orange essential oils were highly effective at killing bacteria. Add this blend to a salve or create a foot lotion using our lotion base and adding in a little cornmint.
Lavender 40/42 oil is sold in 0.5-ounce amber glass, 1-ounce amber glass with dropper, 4-ounce amber glass, 8-ounce amber glass, 16-ounce amber glass, 5-pound and 10-pound sizes. For 25 pounds or larger, please email us at orders@shayandcompany.com.
Do not apply directly to skin. Most essential oils are not designed to be applied directly, rather they are designed to be mixed with a carrier oil such as our organic sunflower or organic jojoba oils. Always perform a small patch test when applying to skin.
Do not take internally unless you are licensed to apply them as such.

Floral and sweet, not medicinal or too camphorous. This is a great lavender, staying power is as expected when using this EO at 3% in CP soap.
Absolutely would get this one again!
