I cannot believe it is already the end of January. The year of the fire horse has started off fast and fierce.
I want to start by thanking all the Shay customers who have ordered this month. January is always an interesting month for sales. Some years it is a sleepy month, allowing some space to get back in gear. This year it was a fire horse start, full of energy and growth and amazing customer support.
The team at Shay has worked incredibly hard to get caught up and back into our normal turn-around times on orders. We are generally one of the fastest in the industry, getting 98% of orders out within 24 hours. The start of this year we were overwhelmed with customer support in the way of orders, and it put us behind on our turn-around times. We appreciate your patience and understanding so much!
This week we will only be at about 48 hours, and hopefully back up to the 24 hours by the end of the week.
In addition to focusing on orders, we have also brought back in quite a few things that were out at the end of the year, we have some old favorites back, and we have some new products coming.
New products– if you have an ingredient request you would like us to carry, please email us the details to orders@shayandcompany.com. We keep all ingredient requests and will re-visit those as we are looking at new ingredients throughout the year. We cannot bring in everything, but we do always take customer requests into account.
Returning products- two products that have been out for months and are finally back are the Virgin Shea Butter options. We have wonderful shea butter options. Virgin Shea, also called “raw” shea or “natural” shea are two favorite versions.
Shea butter has been a tricky crop the last year and continues to have challenges. Changes in rules in Africa have changed the ability for crops to be harvested in one country and refined in another. This is historically how it been done, but these changes slow the process while alternative options are explored. The intention behind the changes in to keep proceeds in the region, and allow the women to have more opportunities at retaining funds. Not everyone was set up to harvest and refine, making it impossible to get finished product completed.
We have very high quality shea butters and will continue to offer them as long as our manufacturers have product available. There will be delays this year for all vendors, so be patient with your suppliers.
We do have back Virgin Shea and Organic Virgin Shea butters. High quality, creamy, yellow-to-cream shea butters with that excellent aroma. We are happy to have these back.
