Are prices going to go up? Yes. This is the question on everyone’s mind. Here is what I can tell you.
We have stock on hand and incoming shipments that are considered pre-tariff, so what we have will stay the same in pricing.
Anything after is the wild west. No one really knows what the tariffs are going to do to raw materials. If they stay as they are currently, EVERYTHING will increase. Everything in your life will increase. No way around it as we are a global economy and what is “made in USA” sometimes is made from materials from overseas. Even the things that are fully grown and made in the USA will go up, because of increased demand and lower supply. How much will everything go up? We don’t know.
I have been in this industry since 2002 and prices go up and rarely come down. If they do come down, it is a fraction of what they went up.
Here is what I do know- Shay never increases prices preparing for future costs, and we never raise prices just for profit. Any and all price increases and decreases (because we do decrease our prices when we can) are a direct reflection of the prices we are paying. We have always been as aggressive as possible in our pricing, giving you the best possible prices we can. We will stay true to our quality and we will not start purchasing “cheaper” product just to have cheaper prices. You will get the same quality oils and ingredients as you always have, they just may be more expensive.
Our commitment to quality and speedy service is still present. Our commitment to grow is still present. Our commitment to help you grow is still present.
I hope that each of the Shay Makers commits to shopping from other small makers and supporting other small businesses. Small businesses, like Shay, are the first ones that will feel the effects of the price increases. It will be very hard on all of us, so we have to show up for each other. Unless, of course, someone can get these tariffs to go away. Then back to business as usual, hopefully!
Looking forward! Here are three new products for your shopping and creative pleasure!!!
Tangerine Natural Flavor Oil– holy yumminess, this one is good. We had a Shay Maker get an early release of this and she brought me the sample lip balm of Tangerine. So delicious! Bright, fresh, and sweet!
Ucuuba Butter– this butter will make you forget any butter you’ve ever worked with before. Smells divine right out of the package and naturally high levels of myristic acid, making it ideal for eye creams, face creams, lip balms and hair care. Also, Ucuuba butter is sustainable!
RSPO Isopropyl Palmitate– a key ingredient when you want creamy skin feel without the finished product being heavy or greasy. RSPO Isopropyl Palmitate can be used in as little as 1% and will increase moisture and give great skin feel!
