Turmeric is that lovely spice added to many sauces and curries, giving them a spicy flavor and beautiful orange color. Turmeric essential oil is all that olfactory benefit in a concentrated form. Turmeric essential oil is an excellent addition to any rich, deep essential oil blend, and has many topical benefits.
When used in aromatherapy products, turmeric essential oil is said to help bring up your energy, clear your mind, and sharpen your focus. Turmeric essential oil is often used in ceremonial traditions, incorporating it into incense blends. Turmeric essential oil, when used in products such as solid perfumes or perfume sprays, warms nicely when applied to the skin and can elicit a very warm, earthy base to a perfume blend.
Turmeric essential oil also has very strong anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory benefits. This makes it an excellent addition to skincare products designed to help firm up the skin and boost the natural collagen production, as well as joint creams and healing salves/oils. Turmeric essential oil’s anti-inflammatory benefits are enhanced by the addition of black pepper essential oil so if you’re going to make an anti-inflammatory salve/cream/lotion make sure to include black pepper essential oil in your blend.
Other ways topical use of turmeric essential oil is benefit to the skin is that is said to help increase moisture retained in the skin, it can help balance sebum production, and it can help exfoliate dead skin.
An excellent skin toner would be organic witch hazel, organic apple cider vinegar, organic argan oil, Daikon radish seed extract, with an essential oil blend of turmeric, black pepper (very small amount), and clary sage. This would need to be shaken before each use to keep the oils dispersed but the effect would be brightening and hydrating.
