SLSA is your go-to powder surfactant for bath bombs, shampoo bars, bath melts, cleansing creams, and foaming bath salts.
SLSA (Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate) is a fine white powder derived from coconut and palm oils. Unlike traditional SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulfate), which can be harsh and irritating, SLSA is a much milder, safer, and gentler alternative. It is also eco-friendly, biodegradable, and doesn’t contribute to water pollution, making it an excellent choice for environmentally-conscious businesses. We offer two versions of SLSA Powder, both fine and coarse. Please note, the 250 pound size is in a drum, not boxes. If you select that size, it will not be boxed down.
Bath bombs- try blending SLSA, sodium bicarbonate, citric acid, corn starch and your favorite essential oil blends. You can add a little of one of our melt-and-pour soap bases to help keep their form and to increase bubbles.
Foaming Bath Salts- try blending Epson salt, sodium bicarbonate, citric acid and SLSA to create a detoxifying foaming bath salt. Add a little menthol to make a foaming foot soak.
Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate powder is a natural foaming agent derived from coconut or MB palm. SLSA works as an excellent foaming agent that is more gentle on the skin and more widely accepted than sulfates or betains. Our specific version of SLSA is powder form (both coarse and fine), which means it is fine enough to mix with bath salts or bath bombs.
SLSA is an effective cleansing agent that doesn’t strip skin or hair of their natural oils. SLSA also creates luxurious, abundant lather, that is long-lasting.
SLSA can be toxic if taken orally. For topical use only. Use normal safety precautions when adding to formulas (safety goggles, mask, gloves). Once blended into finished product safety precautions are not necessary.
The difference between the fine and coarse versions of SLSA powder is mainly the amount of dust created when using SLSA powder. This is a lightweight powder which does create clouds when working with it. You do want to make sure to use both eye and respiratory protection when using either one, the coarse version just has less fly-away tendencies than the fine. Coarse SLSA powder also is less surfactant so keep this into consideration when making your formulas.
SLSA Fine Composition: 64-85% Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate
SLSA Coarse Composition: 65-72% Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate
