Oregano oil has traditionally been used in culinary applications, but as of late oregano essential oil has become very popular. This popularity is due to its wonderful herbaceous scent, and its strong antibacterial properties.

Oregano essential oil contains a high amount of carvacol, a strong antibacterial agent. Oregano essential oil can be used in topical applications, such as wound creams, oils, salves, and sprays to help fight bacteria, or it can be added to home cleaning products such as spray cleanser, room deodorizers, laundry detergent and surface cleansers.

Oregano essential oil is also an excellent ingredient for use in anti-acne skincare. If you’re making a soap bar for acneic skin, try adding in oregano essential oil to help kill off skin bacteria, and add in organic jojoba oil to help control excess sebum production. Oregano essential oil blends well with clary sage essential oil, helichrysum essential oil, and holy basil essential oil, making a powerful skin blend.

Due to the strong antibacterial and antifungal benefits of oregano essential, it is an excellent candidate for foot care products. Add this to your blend with tea tree essential oil and cajeput essential oil for foot soaks, nail oils, and foot sprays.

Oregano essential oil blends well with lavender essential oil, juniper essential oil, cypress essential oil, sweet basil essential oil, black pepper essential oil, dalmatian sage essential oil, litsea essential oil, palmarosa essential oil, and white thyme essential oil. It would also make an excellent addition to our Herb Garden fragrance.

Do not apply directly to skin. Most essential oils are not designed to be applied directly, rather they are designed to be mixed with a carrier oil such as our organic sunflower or organic jojoba oils.  Always perform a small patch test when applying to skin.
