Hibiscus Flower Exfoliant is one of the prettiest exfoliants you could add to your formulas, and they impart great benefits to the skin! Hibiscus Flower Exfoliant is made up of a blend of the flowers and the seeds, so using the exfoliant in your product imparts the natural antioxidant and saponins found in the seeds.
Hibiscus Flowers are considered a mild exfoliant, working gently enough to be used on all skin types and will not scratch the skin. These will put a beautiful pink color into your products. These gentle flowers are considered to be ultra-hydrating.
Hibiscus has many skincare benefits, and one of the most exciting ones is the natural levels of saponins in the seeds. Saponins work to naturally cleanse the skin, so in addition to the physical scrubbing effect of the flowers, Hibiscus Exfoliant also contains natural cleansing capabilities.
Hibiscus is also considered to be high in AHA’s, including citric and malic acids. This helps to even skin tone, combat hyperpigmentation, and gently exfoliant dead skin cells. Using Hibiscus Flowers as the exfoliant works both as a physical and a chemical exfoliant (chemical meaning the acids are working, not chemical as in a synthetic ingredient).
Hibiscus Flowers also have a high mucilage component. This means that the flowers work as a polysaccharide, which helps to increase moisture on the skin.
The bright purple and pink color is a dead giveaway of the levels of anti-oxidants! Remember that the more color in your ingredients, the more plant power they contain. This color will color your finished product, either by creating flecks of color if your product is dry, or it can turn the other liquids in your product a beautiful purple color in liquid formulas.
