Organic Arrowroot is utilized in skincare formulas both as an absorbent and to create a silky texture to oil based products. Organic Arrowroot is different than Tapioca Starch in its origin but is often sold under the same name. Organic Arrowroot is derived from the dried roots of the Arrowroot plant (either East Indian Arrowroot Curcuma Angustifolia, or West Indian Arrowroot Maranta Arudinacea), whereas Tapioca Starch is derived from Cassava Root.

Organic Arrowroot is high in natural vitamins and minerals such as B6, zinc and potassium. This makes it a great addition to skin healing products, such as wound salves and treatments. This also makes it an excellent ingredient when making natural diaper rash creams.

Adding Organic Arrowroot to your oil base products helps to lessen the oily affect on the skin, and gives your products a nice, silky texture. You can add anywhere from 1-30%, depending on what you want the final texture to be. Organic Arrowroot also acts as a binder and whitener.

If you’re making natural deodorants, Organic Arrowroot is the go-to ingredient to help create the smooth texture and have a drying effect on the skin. Organic Arrowroot helps to pull moisture away from the skin and helps your product to have soft glide when applied. Organic Arrowroot also does not cause the burning affect that Sodium Bicarbonate can have on some individuals.
